Why put Luxor at the heart of your trip?

Luxor lies in the totality belt. Cairo and Giza do not: a dramatic partial eclipse there is a different experience from seeing the Sun fully covered. Our routes put the viewing day first, with travel to Luxor planned beforehand.

A day to protect in your itinerary

Plan to be in Luxor by 31 July, with 1 August as a preparation day. Avoid relying on an arrival flight or long transfer on eclipse morning. Allow for summer heat with morning sightseeing, time indoors, water and shade; discuss viewing-site facilities before booking.

The sample routes allow this buffer. Flight schedules, hotels, transfers and viewing-site permissions still need confirmation. Weather can affect what you see.

Choose how Egypt unfolds around the eclipse.

These dates and routes are planning ideas, not confirmed departures. Extend your stay or adjust the route while keeping 2 August in the Luxor area.

  1. Choose a route and tell us your party size, preferred hotel style, travel dates and any accessibility or photography needs.

  3. Review your itemised proposal, including the viewing location, facilities, inclusions, payment schedule and cancellation terms, before deciding.

Request shade, seating, drinking water, toilets, safe solar viewers and any astronomy support explicitly. Their provision must be stated in your proposal. International flights, visas, insurance and specialist equipment are not assumed to be included.

Your eclipse questions, answered.

When is the eclipse in Luxor?

Monday, 2 August 2027. Current calculations give about 6 minutes 22 seconds of totality in Luxor, with maximum around 1:05 pm local time (EEST, UTC+3). The full partial-to-partial event runs approximately 11:40 am–2:26 pm. Timings and duration vary with the exact viewing coordinates; reconfirm them before travel.

Can we see totality from Cairo or the Pyramids?

Cairo and Giza are outside the path of totality. They can be part of your wider journey, but these itineraries place you in the Luxor area for the total eclipse. Check your precise viewing location on the linked eclipse map.

Is this a confirmed group departure?

These are proposed private itineraries for your party. Accommodation, viewing-site access, transport and any specialist support must be checked. An enquiry does not reserve a room or a viewing place, and there is no obligation to book.

How much does an eclipse journey cost?

We prepare an itemised quotation for your dates, party size and accommodation preferences. It sets out inclusions, exclusions, currency, payment dates and supplier-specific cancellation terms. We do not list unconfirmed prices or take payment on this page.

Can we view from Karnak or from a Nile boat?

Neither temple access nor a boat viewing position is promised. The final site needs appropriate permissions, a suitable sky view and access arrangements. A Nile sailing can be requested as an extension; its route must not take you away from the agreed viewing location on eclipse day.

What if the weather or access changes?

Clear skies and uninterrupted viewing cannot be guaranteed. Ask how weather, access restrictions, itinerary changes and cancellations are handled in the written terms before paying. Consider travel insurance suitable for your circumstances and check current travel advice before booking.

Can children or travellers with mobility needs join?

Tell us about ages, mobility, medical or heat-related needs when enquiring. Ask for suitable transfers, seating, toilets, shade and the distance from your hotel to the proposed viewing site. Accessibility and support are confirmed for the actual arrangements, not assumed.
